Welcome

Marco Rubio - United States Senator from Florida

What is RetakeOurGov all about?  This quote from Florida's TEA Party backed Senator Marco Rubio aptly describes us:

“[The Tea Party Movement] is a grassroots movement of everyday people who will hold their leaders and the people they help elect accountable. I think that’s an extraordinarily positive development in American politics, and [it] brings us closer to the essence of the republic that our founders dreamt of.”

Stop Brighton's Stealth Property Tax Increase

Don't Let 7% of Voters Raise Your Property Taxes

Property tax votes are frequently scheduled when voter turnout is known to be low.  Turnout can be as low as 14%.  This means that as little as 7% of registered voters could raise your property taxes.  Does this seem fair? What can you do about this?  Read more...

Defeat Liberalism Using Guerrilla Tactics, USA Today Campaign

Pre-printed sticky note on pump

Many of you are already participating in the Sticky Note Campaign.  Well here is a new idea, a new application for the Sticky Notes you've come to know and love.

Some have called politics a substitute for war. In this context the "Sticky Note" campaign described below would be analogous to guerrilla warfare. The Left has the large standing armies of ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, New York Times, Washington Post, etc. We have individual patriots fighting "tooth and nail" using every creative "weapon" at our disposal.  Since its introduction the Sticky Note Campaign has been very popular.  Now we've modified it enabling us to keep a consistent message while involving many more people.

RetakeOurGov Thanks Michigan Supreme Court Justice Brian Zahra

michigan supreme court justice brian zahra

RetakeOurGov extends its heartfelt thanks to Michigan Supreme Court Justice Brian Zahra for agreeing participate in our Constitution Scholarship Program.  Justice Zahra will lead a panel of citizens and legal scholars in judging our essay competition for Livingston County High School Seniors.

Our scholarship program was introduced to the public at our September 13th meeting. Click here for more details including a 2.5 minutes audio clip from WHMI.

Justice Zahra was appointed to the Michigan Supreme Court on January 11, 2011 by Governor Rick Snyder to replace Maura Corrigan who was in turn appointed to head the Michigan Department of Human Services. Zahra, 51, will need to stand for election in November, 2012 to retain the position.

U.S. Senate Candidate Forum

RetakeOurGov is part of a coalition of five TEA Party groups that sponsored a U.S. Senate Candidate Forum in Milford, MI on November 29, 2011.  We have posted video of this event for those who could not attend or for those who want to review what the candidates said.  Read more.

We have also posted news media coverage of the event from the Observer Eccentric News.

Paul Ryan Sheds Light on Washington's Phony Budget Cuts

Congressman Paul RyanThis short video summarizes everything you need to know about smoke and mirrors in Washington D.C.  A private-sector company using these types of accounting gimmicks would either go bankrupt or be shut down by federal regulators.  The American people, their children, and their grandchildren deserve better.  We cannot continue to let the Federal government borrow 40 cents out of every dollars it spends.

Watch this two minute video of Congressman Paul Ryan (R) as he explains how elites in Washington use trickery and sleight of hand to produce phony-baloney spending cuts.  Anyone in D.C. who doesn't take this spending crisis seriously will be unemployed come November 2012!

The federal government can confiscate all of the taxable income of the “rich” and it wouldn’t be enough to balance the budget.  Stated another way, a tax rate of 100% on the millionaires and billionaires wouldn’t provide enough money to balance the federal budget. I’ve heard this before on talk radio,...

Satire is frequently used to help make a complex issue more understandable.  This satirical three minute video illustrates just how little Washington is doing to rein in our deficit spending. The politicians continue to pile mountains of debt on our children and grandchildren. In this video an...

Fund the Battle Against Senators Voting Yes on SB 693!     As we recently noted, the Michigan Senate just passed SB 693.  This bill sets up the health insurance exchanges mandated by Obamacare – the law so many of us have fought so hard to prevent and which we continue to fight to repeal. Senators...

American citizens from all across the political spectrum remain unimpressed with President Obama’s economic policies.  More specifically they are asking, “Where are the jobs?”  Remember those “shovel ready” jobs that were supposed to be created with Obama’s nearly one trillion dollar stimulus...

A glitch in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obama Care) provides states with an opening to roll back this piece of socialist legislation.  The key to this roll back is to not implement an Obama Care health insurance exchange.  This is why, in recent days, citizens across Michigan...

Today the Republican caucus of the Michigan Senate carried the water for Governor Snyder (R) and passed SB 693.  As discussed previously at ROG, SB 693 accelerates the pace of implementation of Obama Care here in Michigan.
